Just a quick 'update'.
I tend to be a pretty patient person. However, it's beginning to wear thin with others who have the flimsiest excuse to why they know better than me when it comes to my job. I'm not talking about those who work in the same field. Anyone who's done a one off art class, photography lesson, colour workshop or even picked up a book and read something, somewhere feel that they seem to know more than I do. My favourite was when one of these experts, in front of upper management pointed out that I would have no idea what constitutes as a good photograph because I had not worked in merchandising. Although completely out of line, I wanted to point out that being a shop assistant at DJ's once upon a time does not, under any circumstances qualify her in any area pertaining to design or photography. And that although I was 26 years her junior I did in fact, had a far more substantial opinion than she in regards to this matter. Of course, I did what any good employee does. I took a deep breath, counted to ten (not long enough), smiled and pointed out that my training and experience made my opinion quite valid, but of course I was not one to reject other's opinions. I then politely excused myself from the room, walked into my office and using my ever growing imagination, wondered what it would be like if I could throw my computer monitor out the window. I could probably equate it to someone who has only managed to change the oil in their car, tell the mechanic what they should be doing. Or the guy who paints a bedroom or installs a shelf, following the builder around telling him what he thinks he knows.
