Something I would like read at my funeral... I know it's completely cliché, but I think it sums it up nicely...
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow; I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush I am the quick uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die. Because I won't be buried, if there is ever something that someone wants to keep in my memory, I would like this: Way leads on to way. (taken from the Robert Frost poem). I don't know how many funeral songs you're supposed to have - if it were up to me it would be a musical - but the ones I would like to have either at the funeral or planing at the reception without a doubt will be: 1. Hotel California - Eagles (Must) 2. Into My Arms - Nick Cave 3. One Crowded Hour - Augie March 4. Heartbeats - Jose Gonzalez 5. Big Jet Plane - Angus & Julia Stone 6. You Belong To Me - Jason Wade (Must) No church songs. No religious nonsense. It would be extra coolness if anyone I knew could actually perform any of the above - I think a live band would lift the mood.
