Officially half way through the year!

As per the title suggests, we have finally come to the seventh month of the year which means not long now till Christmas again. The second half of the year seems to slow down a bit until October, and then before you know it you're sitting in the fluorescent hell that is the office wondering why it's January 7th.
I am sitting at my desk trying to study, but today it's a bit hard. I spent all of yesterday working on swimwear patterns - that's right, fun stuff. And now I have to go back to a text book. Not fun at all.
The next couple of weeks however are going to be pretty full on. Right through until October, I will be working hard on putting together a swimwear range with my friend Kirsty, trying to work as much freelance as possible as to save enough money to put me in Hawaii for three weeks, doing the usual study (maybe I should take a term off?) and putting the feelers out for any new job opportunities that hopefully pay a little more than what I am getting now. Toastmasters starts this week (very excited about that) and I want to learn more about the ins and outs of photography, as to ensure that when I go away I come back with some relatively decent photos, especially of the volcanoes.
And before I know it, it will be January again.
I also wanted to do the City to Surf this year. It's been on my to-do list for years, but never got around to the training and well, it's only 4 weeks away and I will most likely NOT doing it. There is another half marathon at the beginning of September which is now, completely out of my league because of my lack of training. I hate cold weather - I swear that's the problem. Warmer days I'd be up at 4am and out running. Now it's a miracle if I can get to work on time. I'd love to live somewhere warmer - I loved the Gold Coast and wish I could go back up there but with the boy's work down here, it's pretty unlikely.
Ah, Sunday afternoon. Probably should be going for a run now with the dogs.
Below are the beginnings of my next two tattoos. The circular one will be for the inside of my arm, near the crook of my elbow and the second one is still being figured out - I'm not even sure if it's going to be black, probably coloured up in tones of browns, so it's not so stark. The first one is "Fortes fortuna adiuvat" which is fortune favours the bold in latin, and the second one is "Be the change you wish to see in the world" with orchids. Can you tell I had other, more important things to do late last night (hence the creation of two new tattoos??).
To be honest, I've been drawing on blank surfaces since I could hold a pencil so tattooing myself isn't that big of a stretch for me. I love them. I love them on people and on myself. Sometimes they can say so much about a person, especially really personal ones. I also think that tattoos are pretty subjective. I don't believe that the girl with the giant butterfly picked off the wall of the store is going to love it for the rest of her life but it's not my call, as is the same with names, pop culture icons, etc. I think it's polite to keep mouths closed when it comes to what you think about someone else's tattoo.
And to anyone who's just looked at those and thought, WTF is she doing (with the larger, orchid one), I could probably bet you $100 that you won't know when it get it done or where it is so don't panic. For all you know I could have changed my mind (not likely) so try and think of it that way.

I too sit back and think "wow - where the hell has the first half of 2010 gone?".
It's so strange - time goes so quickly and there's so many things I want to get done, and then a massive amount of time goes by, and BAM, nothing is one. It's so frustrating. But it's a nice sort of frustrating, y'know?
I kind of look at short term time periods and think "Why the hell haven't I done anything?" or "Why haven't I got that done?" but then realise that a chunk of time has gone past, which means closer to the end of something that I'm counting down; uni, or to holidays, etc etc. Every cloud, y'know?
As for Hawaii? TOTALLY cool, and TOTALLY jealous. When we're rich, we can go there and NOT have to worry about our savings accounts.
I'm feeling the same with my savings - I used to have $2000 in mine for a trip to England next year, but things come, unexpected expenses, etc, and there's definitely ISN'T $2000 in there now. Money just disappears and it's so hard to get it back up there.
I'd also love to do the City-to-Surf; I'd just need to train up a bit. I'm not sure how much BodyPump, BodyStep, BodyCombat, BodyVive, BodyAttack and meanders through the bush/city would prepare me for the City-to-Surf. I'v heard it's a bit of an ouchie.
It's soooo cold here in Inverell - nothing like this in Newy, I swear. That's one of the positives about being at Newcastle for uni - the weather!
I've actually got a touch of the flu and I've been bed resting for the last 2 days. I have gotten through 1 and half series of Boston Legal, but I don't enjoy my lack of exercise.
As for the location of the second tattoo, is your gunt free?

I need to spread the word about the gunt, you saying that just then made me laugh so hard. Mine is free of tattoos, but that is not my first choice for body art. If I can get it nice enough (with some shading and colour) it may in actual fact go on my hip or on my rib under my arm... But we'll have to see.
I am sitting in my car at the moment thinking how silly I was to be so prepared for an appointment I am an hour early. And I'm sitting in suburbia Chifley which means nothing to do but sit in the car and wait (thumbs down to living so far away). Oh well. Let's see if I can't post this off the Blackberry...

Well not to be late or anything, but the "be the change you want to see in the world" tattoo is absolutely stunning. I was just wondering where you had gotten it (if you did at all). I've been looking for good tattoo ideas of this tutor and I've been stuck on this one for about a year. It's beautiful and I was just wondering where you had put it!
